A Weekend in Toronto with Shawn Mendes...

Dernière mise à jour : 19 sept. 2019

Hello it’s Lise, few days ago I went to Toronto for 2 and a half days, and it was a crazy weekend because I did a lot of activities that I have never done in France before.

On Friday, September 6th, we left school early with my exchange partner to go to Toronto because it is 2h from Collingwood by car. Once we arrived we visited the city a little bit but at 6:00 PM we headed to the Rogers Center, the biggest stadium in Toronto, to see a concert. And not just any concert… We saw Shawn Mendes! He sang for two hours and it was wonderful, a lot of people attended, approximately 53 000. After this crazy concert and after singing a lot, I had no voice.

Then, on Saturday, we met my cousin who lives in Montreal and who came and spent the weekend in Toronto with us. We went to the CN tower and it is very impressive, we went up to the top with an elevator and it was very cool, we had a wonderful view of Toronto and of lake Ontario. There is also a glass floor and that’s really funny because you realize that you are really high. When we got back on the ground we headed to the Eaton Center, that’s a big mall where I spent a lot of money in a store called « Roots », this is a typical Canadian brand. Then, we returned near the CN Tower to go to the aquarium and usually I’m not a big fan of the aquarium but this one was very huge. We saw a lot of species and we can also touched stingrays and it was very weird. To finish the day, we ate in a nice restaurant and then we went for a walk near Lake Ontario. At the end of the day we went back to our hotel with 19 000 steps and counting.

Finally, on Sunday that was the scary day because we went to Canada’s Wonderland and I had actually never been to an amusement park before, so my first experience was in Canada. In this park there are a lot a scary rollercoasters and especially one which is called « The Yukon Striker » and I thought I wasn’t gonna come back alive… But don’t worry I’m still alive and I actually did the « Yukon » three times. After a lot of scary moments, my exchange partner and myself went to buy a BeaverTail. It is a sort of long, flat fried piece of dough with different flavours of covered on it, and that’s really delicious. We then came back to Collingwood after this day full of feelings.

It was a wonderful weekend with all these activities, Toronto is a big city but very nice and I would like to go back there. I hope you will go to Toronto one day, it is fantastic.

Thanks for reading,

Lise.
